We’re feeling a little bit Oprah and have some good news to share.
(And no, it’s not a Pumpkin Spiced Yankee candle under your seat)
In the past few months, approximately six people have left “mentoring, coaching, and counselling” organisation Lighthouse International Group, the UK-based outfit seemingly run from a number of temporary share-houses across the UK.
There have been other leavers over the years and – if this trajectory continues at pace – probably many more to come.
And the ones we’ve been in contact with are very unhappy with the way they’ve been treated.
Inspired by the stories of ex-members, this site seeks to question Lighthouse, the conduct of its senior leaders and look for evidence for their claims.
But the more we find out, the more complicated it seems.
And things are fast-changing: Lighthouse members have started to post on social media sites, and they have just announced another new project, this time it’s something called
The Christian Response Forum. In fact, in the past few weeks, some members have started to talk about their “emerging faith”. Oh, and the number of leavers disillusioned with the organisation is steadily growing. It can be hard to keep up.
So, what about the good news?
As we said above, the leavers we’ve spoken to are unhappy with the way they’ve been treated, and many are seeking the return of huge investments, but that’s not the whole story.
Because there is positivity, too.
The ex-members we’ve been in contact with are… *drum roll*… doing really well!
Here’s how we know:
They have finally reconnected with family and friends.
They are finally doing the things they had always hoped to do, in terms of work, their aspirations, and their personal relationships.
They have social lives – trips to the pub, even!
And they are having fun.
In fact, they are looking forward to the festive period with the ones they love, and they feel pretty hopeful about 2022.
They no longer see everything through a sort of idiosyncratic lens, and seem to be positive about the world and their place in it.
Put simply: they feel good.
Until next time!
PS. Please, please contact your families and your mates, many have been in touch and they would really love to hear from you. Especially at this time of year and with all the covid chaos going on. It’s a
time to come together and not stay apart, no?
